Ways to Remember: Photo Albums and Lock screens
A memory jar can sometimes be a fun activity using a jar, chalk, and salt, but that’s also not convenient for everyone and can be messy! This version of the memory jar allows you to have a bit more freedom while also being mindful and having some quite time.
How to start a memory jar
You can either download or print one of the designs we’ve created, or you can take a blank memory jar and design your own mindful colouring pattern or just colour it in however you like.
You could use an app like Colorscape or you could even colour the image in within the stories feature on Instagram. If you’d prefer to print it and colour it in with pens and pencils you have, that’s fine too.
Choosing colours for your memory jar
Each different coloured pen or pencil you select could represent a memory that you have of your person. The memories could be happy, funny, silly, sad, a time you were annoyed at them, even an argument you had. For example, you might think of times you spent in the sunshine together and choose the colour yellow. Or if you argued and had disagreements sometimes, you could represent those moments with the colour red. Begin by thinking of 5 memories of the person who died that you want to capture in your Memory Jar. Assign a colour to each memory. It might be useful to complete you colour code first so you can remember which colour means what!
